The Adventures of Caraway Kim…Right Wing chronicles the eponymous hero’s quest to become the top goal scorer on his hockey team. Even though Kim is highly motivated and skilled, he is simply not the sort of rough and tumble hockey player who dominates the ice. His teammate Bradley Rooks is just such a player. Bradley is a bigger, stronger, older rival who dominates the puck and seems certain to take the crown. Unbeknownst to Bradley, the curved stick becomes the latest innovation in hockey. Kim adopts it as his "the secret weapon" in the scoring competition. As he did with baseball in the previous the Caraway Kim novel, Southpaw, author Don Truckey vividly brings to life the ethos and atmosphere of peewee hockey in Right Wing. The rivalries, humour, and dialogue ring as true as the sound of a puck off a goal post. While the curved stick gives Kim an edge over his rival Bradley, Truckey’s novel illustrates how it is being a good sport that gives Kim a true advantage.
Don Truckey is a television-and-screenwriter and novelist. Amongst his many television credits are multiple episodes of Street Legal and Urban Angel.
