The Feathertale Review Cabaret

Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 7:30pm
Supermarket, 268 Augusta Avenue

Ever wonder who puts together one of Canada’s most popular literary humour magazines? Want to attend the taping of a fake podcast? To launch the new issue of The Feathertale Review, editor Brett Popplewell and such contributors as Kevin Scanlon and Gavin McCarthy will present a cabaret-styled collection of short pieces. Rumour has it that their antics will include a hot new variation on the game, 'Where's Waldo?' that's been taking Toronto by storm: ‘Where’s Graham Roumieu hiding?’ It's like playing trivia - but without all those troublesome facts! Iain Marlow will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Marc Glassman, Executive Director of This Is Not A Reading Series (TINARS) will host the evening.

– A TINARS event presented by The Feathertale Review, NOW Magazine, Torontoist.com, and Take Five On CIUT

What's The Feathertale Review

More than just a small-house publisher, an annual review, and an online magazine, Feathertale is a forum where writers, poets, and cartoonists join together to showcase their artistic genius. The name Feathertale is a reference to the creative process— the feather being the tool, and the tale being the result of creativity. Visit: www.feathertale.com

Who's behind it all?

Brett Popplewell: bpopplewell@feathertale.com

A journalist by trade but a swashbuckling archeologist at heart, Brett currently resides in Toronto, where he's given up his hobby of blowing snowflakes toward the sea in order to pursue a gloriously unqualified career as Feathertale's editor.

Lee H. Wilson: lwilson@feathertale.com

A lover of all things bohemian, Lee is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design and a student of the revolution. Lee is now working as a designer in New York and has, for the time being, abandoned his rebel friends to become Feathertale's art director.

Corina Milic: cmilic@feathertale.com

After pursuing an unsuccessful career as a mime, Corina tried her hand at vaudeville, ventriloquism and several other professions beginning with the letter V before becoming a reporter and photographer in Toronto. She is also Feathertale's poetry editor.

Benson Lee: blee@feathertale.com

Benson once sold his soul for three bucks, which he used to jump-start a short-lived career as a one-trick pony that ended when he was revealed to have tricks aplenty. He now obsesses over italicized commas in his role as Feathertale's associate editor.

Who's the monkey?

D'Artagnan: D'Artagnan gained notoriety early in life as the first primate to successfully recreate Hamlet on a typewriter. He has since produced three manuscripts written in hieroglyphs using toothpaste on toilet paper. He's often said to be "pickled" due to his recent literary failures. He is Feathertale's publisher.

Where's Graham Roumieu hiding?

Your guess is as good as ours.
