Toronto on Film Night

Wednesday, September 9, 2009 - 8:30pm
Gladstone Hotel Ballroom, 1214 Queen St West, Toronto

Toronto is home to internationally celebrated directors like Atom Egoyan, hosts one of the world’s major film festivals, and appears in more movies than Mickey Rooney. But what sort of relationship does our fair city really have with the big screen? We’ll unravel this riddle during a double feature. To launch his contribution to the film studies series Canadian Cinema, Atom Egoyan’s The Adjuster (University of Toronto Press), scholar and critic Tom McSorley will discuss and show clips from Egoyan’s award-winning film. Acclaimed critic Geoff Pevere and special friends will celebrate the release of the Toronto International Film Festival’s landmark anthology, Toronto On Film (Wilfrid Laurier University Press) by screening and shedding light on some key moments in our city’s cinematic history - A co-presentation with the Toronto International Film Festival.
