Paul McEwan and Noel S. Baker in conversation at “BRUCE McDONALD’S Hard Core Logo” launch

What’s so hard core Canadian about Bruce MacDonald’s Hard Core Logo? Why does it resonate so deeply with everyone from bands like Billy Talent to scholars like Paul McEwan? TIFF, University of Toronto Press and This Is Not A Reading Series have assembled a hardcore lineup of homegrown talent to shed light on this cultural phenomenon and to launch McEwan’s addition to the UTP/TIFF Canadian Cinema series, Bruce McDonald’s Hard Core Logo. Join TIFF’s Associate Director of Canadian Programming, Steve Gravestock, Hard Core Logo screenplay writer, Noel S. Baker, and Muhlenberg College’s Director of Film Studies, Paul McEwan as they give us a behind-the-scenes peek at McDonald’s Canadian cult classic in a show-and-tell session of film clips and candid discussion. Sing along with Choir! Choir! Choir! and Toronto Indie Supergroup White Suede as they pay tribute to the HCL soundtrack and rock out some old school punk.
